Informations on the cabinetmaker (excerpt "The French furniture of the eighteenth century" - The Editions of the Amateur) : Jean-Baptiste Gamichon, died in 1832, began to work at the beginning of the Revolution. Its activity, probably quite small, seems to have continued until the beginning of the Empire. Informations on the J.M.E. : August 20, 1751, the Parliament votes the Constitution of Jurande, community of Joiners Cabinetmakers, consisting of a principal and 6 jurors. Its role is to choose and verify the masterpieces of the masteries, to monitor the quality of the Parisian workshops and to hunt down the free workers. The jurors visited the workshops four times a year and applied the mark on the books corresponding to the defined criteria. They collected a tax and confiscated the defective goods.
