Gilded Bronze Dolphin-adorned Hot Water Bottle Lamp – Empire Style – 19th Century
An elegant three-light hot-water bottle lamp, made of bronze and gilded brass, resting on a circular, cup-shaped base.
Its base features a design of fantastical dolphins with scaly, intertwined bodies, whose tails rise to form the lamp arms. The animals’ heads, finely chiseled, adorn the center of the base.
The lamp is topped with a lampshade made of very dark green lacquered sheet metal, embellished with a frieze of gilded foliage. The shade is height-adjustable thanks to an ingenious sliding mechanism
The central stem is topped with a pine cone-shaped finial.
