Sculpture By Auguste Moreau
Artist: Auguste Moreau
We are selling this charming sculpture by one of the most famous Moreaus—in this case, Auguste Moreau (1834–1917)—depicting a child or putto carrying a bundle of firewood on his back.
It is neither a bronze, nor a régul, nor a terracotta, but rather an electrotype—a technique widely used in the 19th century. This technique involves depositing metal through electrolysis and results in a remarkably faithful reproduction.
Superb condition.
Signed on the base.
