First Half Of The 18th Century Silver-plated Bronze Cooler
Finely repoussé-worked, silver-plated bronze cooler,
featuring handles and feet made of burnished bronze. The piece is distinguished
by its animal-paw feet and handles adorned with caryatids that appear to
support the entire vessel. The decoration, featuring elegant geometric motifs
and palmettes along the neck and rim, lends the object great refinement. The
body of the cooler bears heraldic imagery, depicting lions supporting a coat of
arms alongside a male figure. Near the caryatids, one can also discern birds
pecking at clusters of grapes. This object, of undeniable taste and
sophistication, is sure to add a touch of class and antiquity to any setting.
Venetian craftsmanship, first half of the 18th century.
