Important Porcelain Biscuit Set – Gallant Couple With Doves – After F. Boucher
A very beautiful and significant group of white porcelain figurines depicting a romantic scene in the 18th-century style, based on compositions by the famous painter François Boucher (1703–1770).
This charming scene features an elegantly dressed young couple; the young woman is seated, holding doves, while the young man stands, also holding a bird.
The composition is set on a large oval pedestal richly adorned with rocaille motifs, foliage, and delicate roses in relief.
Note the finesse of the modeling, particularly in the rendering of the faces, hairstyles, drapery of the garments, and the numerous decorative details.
The base bears an incised inscription reading “D’après Boucher,” as well as a stylized blue mark (probably Sèvres).
Work in the style of Sèvres productions, likely from the late 19th or early 20th century.
A very beautiful decorative ensemble with generous dimensions.
