Large Canton Porcelain Bowl, Patinated Bronze Mount, 19th Century

A large Canton porcelain bowl decorated in famille rose enamels and gilding, set in a brown-patinated bronze mount, made in China in the 19th century.
The exterior is painted with wide reserves framed by Greek-key bands, showing animated court scenes: dignitaries, ladies and attendants in palace interiors with screens and lattice windows. They alternate with panels of peonies, birds, butterflies and insects. The interior has a border of phoenixes, flowers and butterflies on a gilt ground.
The mount, inspired by Far Eastern models, comprises a pierced scrolled gallery at the rim and two side handles in the form of stylised dragons with serrated crests. The bowl rests on a circular base pierced with clouds, raised on four scrolled feet with masks.
