Charles Picart Le Doux began painting at the Académie Julian before moving in 1900 to Marcel-André Baschet’s studio, and then to Jean-Léon Gérôme’s École des Beaux-Arts. His friendship with Renoir freed him from academic conventions, and Impressionism influenced the landscapes he began submitting to the Salon in 1903. He exhibited at the Salons of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, the Salon d’Automne, and the Salon des Tuileries.
He was the father of painter Yves Picart Le Doux, tapestry designer Jean Picart Le Doux (1902–1982), and Jacqueline Picart Le Doux.
