On the back of the work, a study for the same portrait. Unsigned but listed. It was notably exhibited outside of a Balgley retrospective at the Center for Jewish Art and Culture. February 88, under the number 6. Born in 1891 in Brest Litovsk, died in Paris in 1934, Jacob Balgley received encouragement from Claude Roger-Marx and Louis Vauxcelles. The Musée du Luxembourg holds two drawings and an oil painting.
