Bas-relief (1920–1930) Depicting A Male Figure
A carved bas-relief dating from the 1920s, made of patinated plaster (with a bronze or antique terracotta effect). The work depicts a heroic or mythological male figure with an athletic build, his arms raised and partially covered by an antique-style drapery. The style reflects the resurgence of monumental Neoclassicism, which was very much in vogue during the interwar period, evoking the aesthetics of the architectural friezes and public art of that era.
