Art Deco Sculpture "antiope" Signed By Fayral For Pierre Le Farguay

An elegant Art Deco sculpture titled “Antiope”, created by Fayral, the pseudonym of the famous sculptor Pierre Le Faguays (1892–1962), one of the leading figures in French decorative sculpture from the years 1925–1935. This iconic piece was produced by the Max Le Verrier workshops around 1930.

The sculpture depicts Antiope, queen of the Amazons in Greek mythology, captured in a movement of remarkable elegance. Her body is stretched in a dynamic pose, her arms outstretched, holding her spear with great mastery. The flowing drapery,the stylized treatment of the silhouette, and the balance of thelines perfectly embody the Art Deco aesthetic, combining modernity,power, and refinement.

Crafted from art cast iron with its original green patina, it rests on its molded reconstituted stone base, also original. The sculpture is signed “Fayral” on the side of the base, as is customary for early editions by Max Le Verrier.

In very good condition with a uniform, aged patina. The javelin is present, which is significant since it is frequently missing from this model.
