Bronze Sculpture By Rudolf Küchner. Nude Fencer, 42 Cm, Circa 1895
Bronze sculpture with black patina depicting a young man standing, holding a foil behind his back.
The figure, with an athletic build and carefully modeled musculature, strikes a pose that is both elegant and confident. The slight rotation of the torso, the movement of the head, and the position of the arms lend this sculpture an air of contained strength and naturalness.
The anatomical detail, particularly evident in the rendering of the torso, shoulders, and back, attests to the sculptor’s mastery.
The work rests on a circular base adorned with a decorative frieze, bearing the signature R. Küchler.
Rudolf Küchler (1867–1954), an Austrian sculptor trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, worked primarily in Berlin. He created sculptures, monuments, and medals.
