Pompon Umbrella Knob With Tips; Original Dugas-gérard Case, Paris 19th Arrondissement
A vintage set of parasol accessories consisting of a pompon knob and eight matching rib tips, preserved in their original case.
The ovoid-shaped finial features a relief design of elongated ribs alternating with rose and foliage motifs on a finely embossed background.
The eight rib tips, also made of gilded metal, are arranged around the finial in their pleated ivory satin compartments.
The set is presented in its antique burgundy-lined case, adorned with gilded friezes and fitted with a brass clasp. The interior is lined with ivory satin and edged with pale blue trim.
The case bears the label of the firm Dugas-Gérard, 82 rue Saint-Lazare in Paris, a Parisian manufacturer of canes, whips, umbrellas, and parasols, documented in late 19th-century business directories.
