Art Nouveau Fan, Mother-of-pearl, Gouache On Skin, Lace, Venus And Her Putti, Circa 1900
Art Nouveau fan. The frame is in engraved, pierced, gold and silver mother-of-pearl. The leaf is made of skin and lace. The skin parts are superbly painted in gouache of a Venus surrounded by cupids (putti), flowers, and doves. A visible restoration on the frame where the first mother-of-pearl strand on the left has been changed, its color is slightly different, it is not engraved and gilded. Number on the plume. The fan measures 13,97 inches closed and 26,57 inches in diameter open. France, circa 1900.
