Bernard Damiano, oil on canvas, ca. 1970, Still Life, “Table with a Candle and Fruit.” Bernard Damiano, born Bernardo Bonaventura, was an Italian painter and sculptor active in Nice beginning in 1951. He was encouraged by the Nice-based painter Sylvain Vigny to persevere in his artistic path; his art is associated with Expressionism and the Cobra Movement. The work features beautiful impasto and is set in a Regency-style stucco frame with a lovely patina (minor chips).
