Marcel Pagnol And Jacqueline Pagnol - Signed Autograph Letters, 1961
Autograph letters signed by Marcel Pagnol (1895–1974) and Jacqueline Pagnol (1920–2016), actress and wife of Marcel Pagnol, to Dr. Jean-Louis Jullien (1925–2010), a cardiologist in Paris, former chief resident and associate professor at the College of Medicine.
1961. Two signed autograph letters in-4. Size: 27 × 21 cm.
A rare, personal letter from Pagnol to his doctor, accompanied by a second, amusing letter from Jacqueline Pagnol addressed to the same doctor. This second letter was written on June 5, 1961, just three days after John F. Kennedy and his wife’s triumphant state visit to Paris. Jacqueline Pagnol’s maiden name was Jacqueline Bouvier—exactly the same as that of the First Lady of the United States.
Beautiful signatures.
"My dear doctor,
Thank you a thousand times for your care!
I haven’t gone out yet, but I’m walking around the house.
I’m afraid I may still need your expertise. In fact, everything is fine, except for a neuralgic pain in the sternum area, a pain that extends under the right shoulder blade and sometimes into the right shoulder. It occurs only when I’m in bed and during digestion.
If this pain doesn’t subside with aspirin, I’ll call on you for help…
Warmest regards,
Marcel Pagnol
