Richard Ginori Decorated Ceramic Jars With Lids, First Half Of The 1900s, Set Of Two

Richard Ginori Decorated Ceramic Vases with Lids, First Half of the 1900s, Set of TwoOrnamental vases decorated with fruit and leaf motifs arranged in central medallions and horizontal bands. Add a touch of timeless elegance and artisanal tradition to your home with this extraordinary pair of large ceramic vases with lids. Entirely handmade and hand-decorated, these prestigious works of art stand out for their rich detail and majestic silhouette, ideal for enhancing an entryway, living room, sideboard, or as a prestigious centerpiece. These vases feature a slender, richly fluted body resting on a solid circular base, which is also decorated. The imposing, fluted shape of an inverted bell lends movement and depth to the ceramic, accentuating its three-dimensional character. A true highlight of this pair, the matching lids echo the segmented shape and are topped by a sumptuous decorative knob. The knob features raised details in an intense cobalt blue, evoking a braid or small fruits, and ends with a distinctive leaf-green, chalice-shaped handle. The surface, with its warm ivory/cream undertones and glossy finish, features a rich, nature-inspired ornamental design. An elaborate circular medallion, adorned with fruit motifs (pears and plums in shades of ochre, orange, and purple), is framed by a dense geometric decoration of green foliage and small blue flowers. Refined continuous motifs depicting fruits and leaves adorn both the upper rim of the vase and the circumference of its base. Grape clusters and stylized vines embellish the upper sections, thus creating a perfect visual balance.

The mark on the underside of the base features a stylized figure of St. Christopher with his staff, crossing the waves, accompanied by the inscriptions “Richard-Ginori / S. Cristoforo / Milano” and “Made in Italy”—dates from the period between approximately 1925 and 1955. It identifies production from the historic San Cristoforo factory in Milan, which specialized primarily in the production of majolica and artistic ceramics. This was the golden age of the Milanese factory, led in the 1920s and 1930s by prominent artistic directors such as Gio Ponti and, later, Giovanni Gariboldi, a period during which the factory produced some of its most famous decorative ceramics and majolica. The lid accentuates their monumental character, making them perfect for display either as a pair or individually to add charm and elegance to any interior, whether classic or eclectic.
