A large devotional needle case depicting the Education of the Virgin by Saint Anne and Saint Joachim. The central medallion, painted in gouache and highlighted with gold, shows the young Mary learning to read, as confirmed by the Latin inscription in red ink at the bottom. The outer edge features very fine cutwork imitating lace, adorned with floral scrolls and topped by two doves in the corners.
18th-century religious artwork.
Frame dimensions: height 40 cm - width 32 cm.
The artwork is in very good condition, presented in an antique wooden and stucco frame (showing normal signs of wear) under its antique glass, which contains small air bubbles and manufacturing imperfections.
