Gilded Wooden Putto, Late 19th Century

The position of the hands of this cherub and its position "in flight" are characteristic of the sculptures made to adorn religious furniture. Often placed high above the triptychs or painted panels, these lovely sculptures indicated to the spectators where to look. Dated at the end of the 19th century, our cherub is in very good condition. It should be noted, however, that a pin was later added to its back in order, for sure, to bring him back to the godly fresh air of his natural habitat.
