Summer Portrait: Woman With Hat, 19th Century
Protected from the sun by her elegant, generously wrapped hat, this woman poses in a light dress with a lace collar and a high belt in front of a purple velvet drape. So many small details that allow us to situate this portrait temporally in the second half of the 19th century, very probably during the reign of Napoleon III. This lady certainly from bourgeois society wears a refined but not too ostentatious dress, light without being indecent with regard to the morality of the time. A real piece of history that will - we hope - adorn a sunny room, paying homage to the outfit of this beautifully portrayed lady. This oil on canvas is in very good condition, characteristic cracks of 19th century painting and original gilt frame.
