IMPERIAL GENDARMERIE BELT BUCKLE, Model 1854, Second Empire.
Rectangular in shape with cut corners, 7.6 cm high, 9.6 cm wide. It is decorated in the center with an uncrowned imperial eagle holding Jupiter’s sparkling thunderbolt in its talons, surmounted by the inscription “GENDARMERIE IMPERIALE.” In the lower section, a ribbon bears the inscription “PUBLIC SECURITY.” On the back, it is complete with its trigger guard and hook.
