Germanic school, probably Alsace or Switzerland – Late 18th century

Charmingantique goblet made of clear glass, adorned with a remarkable design painted inpolychrome enamel and accented with gilding.

The mainface features a decorative composition centered on a turquoise-greenturquoise, outlined in golden brown and bearing the handwritten inscription “Liebe,” meaning “Love” in German. Two stylized motifs, predominantly pink andwhite, surmount the cartouche, while an elegant floral and plant motif,in shades of blue, yellow, turquoise, and black, unfolds aroundit.

The topedge is accented with a gold border.

The goblet isstored in its cylindrical turned-wood case, complete with its hinged lidand metal clasp. The inside of the lidis lined with an antique protective material, now weathered.
