Antique Portrait Of A Child, France, 1880s–1900s
Original antique oil painting on canvas
Portrait of a child
Hand-painted, one-of-a-kind piece
France
1880–1900
Dimensions: 46 x 34 cm or 18.1 x 13.3 inches
This elegant 19th-century portrait of a boy, with its refinement and expressiveness, is reminiscent of the Fayoum portraits of that era. The canvas has been lined; there is a small restoration in the background and a retouch on part of the boy’s hair. Overall, the condition is very good, and the portrait is magnificent.
