Service Under Napoleon I
We are selling this set of earthenware from the Gien factory, dedicated to the Napoleonic era.
It consists of a large platter depicting Napoleon’s coronation (December 2, 1804) and 12 plates depicting scenes from daily life and the famous battles of the Grande Armée.
The large platter measures 32 cm in diameter, and each plate measures 19.5 cm.
This design was released in 1969 to mark the bicentennial of Napoleon’s birth. Our set was purchased in 1970 by the family from whom it comes and has never been used.
Given the immense success of this design, it was produced from 1969 through the 1990s.
This is the second set we have owned. We sold one in 2025 or 2026.
