Shako Of The 6th Mounted Chasseurs, Model 1801/1804, Modified In 1806. First Empire.

Black felt body, 19 cm high, covered by a black polished cowhide leather cap with a diameter of 24 cm, folded over the felt. A black waxed leather band is sewn to the bottom of the felt; at the back is a buckle with a prong, and beneath this buckle is a leather gusset. Round visor made of black patent leather with a tin ring folded across the outer edge.
Plate on the front; it is diamond-shaped, 11 cm high and 10 cm wide, made of tin-plated tinplate, embossed with a crowned Imperial eagle holding a hunting horn in its talons, and the number “6” cut out at the bottom of the plate.
A lacquered leather cockade in the three colors of the French tricolor, 6.5 cm in diameter, plus a leather gusset for the green pompon, 
Tin chinstraps featuring a rosette with a hunting horn and 15 scalloped tin scales.
Inner cap consisting of a 6-cm black sheepskin headband with wear and missing sections, topped by a beige canvas cap approximately 8 cm wide.
Note: Shaft and first straps made of leather from the 1801–1804 model. In fairly good condition for an item over 200 years old.
