A great painter of theRouen School, Albert Lebourg was born in 1849 and died in 1928 in Rouen
In 1872, he was offered a position as a drawing instructor in Algeria
He returned to France in 1877 before traveling to Holland and England, and he moved to Paris in the late 1890s
In 1910, he stayed in Amiens. And in the fall, he spent his vacation in Chalou-Moulineux, a village in the southern suburbs of Paris. He won a bronze medal at the International Art Exhibition in Barcelona in 1911. That same year, he exhibited views of Amiens and Chalou-Moulineux at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts.The most significant exhibition dedicated to him took place in 1918 in Paris at the Georges Petit Gallery. He had a studio on Rue de Poissy in Paris, where he remained until 1920 before returning to his home in Rouen, where he fell ill.In 1924, he was promoted to the rank of Officer of the Legion of Honor. Suffering from paralysis, Lebourg stopped painting in 1925 and died in 1928 after a painful illness. He is buried in the monumental cemetery in Rouen.
His works are featured in the greatest national and international museums, including the Musée d’Orsay and the Hermitage.
