Pair Of Statues—porcelain—capodimonte—italy—19th Century

Pair of Capodimonte porcelain statuettes, Naples – Aristogiton and Demosthenes

An elegant pair of glazed porcelain statuettes depicting Aristogiton and Demosthenes, two figures inspired by classical antiquity.

These sculptures captivate with the finesse of their modeling, the realism of their anatomy, and the expressiveness of their poses. The first figure stands with an outstretched arm, holding a drape with delicately sculpted folds. The second, in a receding posture, strikes an expressive pose with his hands raised in front of him.

Both figures are crafted from beautiful porcelain with a glossy glaze and rest on circular, molded bases bearing the figures’ names in relief.

The reverse sides feature a raised mark of a crowned “N,” associated with Neapolitan porcelain production and the Capodimonte tradition.

A beautiful, neoclassically inspired decorative set, intended for connoisseurs of Italian porcelain, ancient sculpture, and collectibles.
