The classic mythological depiction of Silenus and Bacchus shows an aged, bearded Silene in his role as tutor and protector of the young god Bacchus (Dionysus). Here, in a more romantic vision, the relationship is almost fraternal
The stamped figurine from the Manufacture de Gustavsberg bears the signature of the sculptor Fridjof Kjiellberg, author of the monument to Linné in Stocholm.
