Important Coat Of Arms, 53 Cm High, Carved Stone From Giglio, Florence—probably 17th Century?
A large coat of arms carved in high relief from natural stone, shaped like a medieval almond-shaped (teardrop-shaped) shield, likely dating from the 17th century.
The front features a magnificent, monumental depiction of the Giglio of Florence (Florentine fleur-de-lis): the blooming lily is flanked by its two characteristic upper buds.
The edges and back retain traces of the original mounting: this coat of arms was originally intended to adorn the facade of a building in Italy.
A very beautiful stone that shows several signs of surface wear, a few chips, and some missing sections on the reliefs and sides.
Height: 53 cm
Approx. 41 x 6 cm
