Oil On Canvas By Lilian Coket, Titled *city-pyrvams*, Salon Des Indépendants 1969
Artist: Lilian Coket Née Decize, Paris 1912-1970
An extraordinary artist, whose Buddhist names were Sister Mirananda, Gopi de Jesus, and Yogananda. She posed as a model at the Académie Julian for a sculpture by André Del Debbio, who encouraged her to paint. She exhibited regularly at the Salon des Indépendants during the 1950s and 1960s.
Upon her death, following a funeral service at the Evangelical Church, a puja was then held at the A.B.S. Chapel in Le Perreux.
Often transcending into the fourth dimension, her hallucinatory paintings exude a certain fascination.
Signed lower left: LM Coket
On the reverse: signed and titled on the canvas; exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants in 1969 in the surrealist section; above the label: an esoteric symbol.
