18th-century Aubusson Tapestry Featuring A Verdant Scene At The Mill
A superb, large 18th-century Aubusson tapestry.It depicts a lively scene with birds in the foreground on the bankof a winding river. In the background is a mill, in front of which standsa donkey. Tall trees frame the foreground of the scene, accompanied bynumerous plants and foliage. In the very far background, avillage can be seen. The entire piece is framed by an intricately crafted border, composed ofscrolls and swirls. The tapestry has retained its beautiful, vivid, andluminous colors across most of its surface. A few imperfections and restorationsare visible in the photos, but overall the piece is in very good condition for itsera. A high-quality work in good overall condition, verydecorative and luminous.
