Floral Still Life With A Basket Of Flowers

An elegant Baroque-style floral still life depicting a rich arrangement of roses, tulips, hollyhocks, poppies, passion flowers, and other varieties of flowers, arranged in a basket resting on a stone surface.

The composition stands out for its decorative abundance, botanical variety, and meticulous rendering of details—elements typical of the great Flemish tradition of flower painting from the 17th to the 18th centuries.

The work is inspired by the models of Pieter Casteels III (1684–1749), a Flemish painter particularly known for his floral still lifes and compositions featuring birds. Active between Antwerp and London, Casteels developed a rich, elegant, and highly decorative style that was much appreciated throughout the 18th century.

The canvas thus features a composition of great visual impact, suitable for a classical setting or a collection dedicated to decorative and floral painting.
