Plaster Fragment From The *centauromachy*

An academic plaster fragment depicting a portion of the Centauromachy of Olympia, the mythological battle between the Lapiths and the Centaurs. The original comes from the western part of the Temple of Zeus. In the center stands the god Apollo, who extends his arm in a gesture that is both powerful and serene, seeking to restore order amid the chaos of battle. This fragment was created in the 1960s.
