Two Winged Cherubs, Polychrome Wood, France, Mid-18th Century.

An imposing bas-relief depicting two cherub heads side by side, with outstretched wings. The youthful faces, with full cheeks and slightly parted lips, are enlivened by wavy hair. Original polychrome paint. This group likely belonged to an altarpiece, in which the angels could be placed among clouds. Signs of wear, damage, and losses in the polychrome.
