Yvette Alde (1911–1967) Cat And Fish Genre Scene Animals Oil On Canvas 20th Century
She began exhibiting as early as the 1930s (notably at the Salon d’Automne and the Salon des Tuileries). She quickly established herself as one of the leading female figures in postwar modern art, alongside artists such as Marie Laurencin and Léonor Fini.
Her style is characterized by free figuration, intense color expression, and a strong psychological sensitivity, blending lyricism and poetry. Although she was initially acclaimed as a portraitist—notably for her striking portrait of Chaïm Soutine, now in the collection of the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris—she also produced numerous landscapes, nudes, and still lifes of flowers.
