Large Imperial Coffee Table With Glass Top, China – 20th Century

This rare Chinese coffee table stands out for its majestic refinement, where the purity of its lines highlights the richness of the craftsmanship. Its large, perfectly fitted glass top rests on a deep black wooden base, creating an elegant contrast that immediately catches the eye. The glass, with its impeccable transparency, protects the surface while revealing the wood’s nobility. Around the top, a wide, finely painted gold border frames the table like a piece of jewelry. This luminous border adds a touch of light and elegantly highlights the piece’s silhouette.
The table, carved from solid wood, features decorative details inspired by traditional Chinese aesthetics: stylized motifs, large zoomorphic legs (lion heads and claws), salamanders arranged symmetrically around a central medallion, and generous proportions, all of which lend the piece a remarkable artistic presence. The red and gold hues, carefully applied, enrich the structure without ever overshadowing the black and glass tabletop that dominates the composition.
An exceptional piece, this coffee table combines contemporary simplicity with Eastern heritage, making it a focal point in any interior seeking elegance, character, and authenticity.
