Ecce Homo, Bust Of Christ With A Crown Of Thorns – Bronze
Michel Léonard Béguine (1855–1929) – *Ecce Homo*, bust of Christ with a crown of thorns – Patinated bronze, circa 1900
Bust of Christ with a crown of thorns in bronze with a brown patina, a work by the sculptor Michel Léonard Béguine (1855–1929).
Christ is depicted with his head tilted toward the sky, his eyes half-closed, and his mouth slightly parted. The crown of thorns rests on his hair, while his beard and strands of hair frame his face.
The rendering of the face and the expression of suffering are in keeping with the iconographic tradition of the *Ecce Homo*, a depiction of Christ during his Passion.
The bust rests on a pedestal with a quadrangular base.
The signature “M. Béguine” is engraved on the base.
