Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date For Women, Ref. 6917/3, With Documentation, 1982
Provenance
Rolex ladies’ wristwatch, Oyster Perpetual Date model, reference 6917/3, sold new on April 17, 1982, by Jean-Paul Poulain, a watchmaker and jeweler in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon. The watch comes with its original Rolex warranty as well as the original sales receipt dated 1982, which lists the reference number and serial number corresponding to the watch. This set of documents is particularly significant for a vintage Rolex from this period and clearly establishes its sales history.
Description
A two-tone ladies’ model characteristic of the early 1980s, featuring a stainless steel Oyster case approximately 26 mm in diameter, paired with a fluted yellow gold bezel and a gold-plated Rolex-engraved winding crown. The champagne-colored dial, preserved in excellent overall condition, features a slightly satin-finished surface, gold-colored applied baton hour markers, the Rolex crown at 12 o’clock, and a discreet peripheral minute track. It bears the inscriptions “ROLEX – OYSTER PERPETUAL – DATE .” At 3 o’clock is the date window, magnified by the Cyclops lens integrated into the crystal.
The watch is mounted on its two-tone Jubilee bracelet, combining steel with central yellow gold links, and features a Rolex folding clasp. This combination of steel and gold, a champagne-colored dial, a fluted bezel, and a Jubilee bracelet is one of the classic configurations of Rolex ladies’ watches from this era.
Technical Specifications and Materials
Stainless steel Oyster case, fluted bezel in yellow gold, two-tone Jubilee bracelet in stainless steel and yellow gold, acrylic crystal with Cyclops lens, and a Rolex self-winding mechanical movement. Date function at 3 o’clock.
Date
1982, as indicated by the original invoice dated April 17, 1982, and the Rolex documentation accompanying the watch.
Condition
Vintage condition as shown in the photographs. The case, bezel, and bracelet show signs of use, including minor scratches and wear consistent with the watch’s age. The acrylic crystal has several noticeable surface scratches. The dial is in very good condition. The bracelet exhibits normal flexibility typical of an older Jubilee bracelet. The watch is currently in working order. Since the recent maintenance history is unknown, a watch service may be considered before regular use.
Use and Intended Purpose
Vintage Rolex ladies’ watch suitable for both everyday wear and a collection dedicated to the manufacturer’s historic models. The inclusion of both the Rolex warranty and the original 1982 sales receipt further enhances the appeal of this piece.
