Charles Dudouyt Oak Wood Chair, Stamped "l'abeillée," 1920–1930, Brutalist, Ref1202
Charles Dudouyt (1885–1946).
Rare oak chair stamped “L'Abeillée,” a workshop founded in Pontoise and associated with the French decorator and designer Charles Dudouyt
A very beautiful design, characteristic of French furniture from the interwar period: a solid oak frame, a wooden seat, and a high, scroll-cut backrest topped with an elegant heart-shaped motif.
The piece features a highly graphic design blending rustic, Art Deco, and modernist influences, typical of the creations of Charles Dudouyt and the L’Abeillée workshop during the 1920s and 1930s.
The chair bears a stamp directly on the wood beneath the seat, visible in the photo.
A vintage chair with distinctive decorative character and a rare design.
