Pair Of Japanese Silver Vases With Japanese Enamel, Turned, 19th–20th Centuries

An elegant pair of Japanese silver vases, made at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, characteristic of the art of the Meiji period (1868–1912) and the early Taishō period (1912–1926). Each vase features an elongated ovoid body, topped by a flared hexagonal neck, decorated with delicate polychrome enamel inlays and mother-of-pearl inlays featuring floral motifs. The central panels are chiseled and repoussé with scenes of birds among the branches and blooming irises, symbolizing harmony and renewal. The upper section is adorned with applied dragons, lending a dynamic and protective character. The openwork hexagonal foot is embellished with enamel matching the overall design. The master’s signature appears on the base.
