A sculptural figure depicting a knight in full armor, crafted in silver in the historicist tradition of the first third of the 20th century. The composition shows a standing knight from the late Middle Ages, clad in richly decorated armor adorned with engraved motifs. In his right hand, the figure holds a long sword, while his left hand holds a shield decorated with a relief depicting a knight. The solemn and static posture emphasizes the sculpture’s monumental character and its decorative function.

The surface of the armor is finely worked and decorated with rich floral motifs executed in engraving and repoussé. The breastplate, belt, and protective elements of the armor are adorned with intricate decoration that creates a metallic textural effect. The helmet is topped with a decorative plume, and certain parts of the armor are highlighted with partial gilding.

The figure’s face is carved from ivory, creating an expressive contrast with the cold sheen of the silver. The sculpture rests on a massive architectural base decorated with relief panels depicting historical scenes and decorative figures at the corners. The pedestal features a complex composition with oval medallions and ornamental friezes executed in repoussé.

The figure’s style draws inspiration from the tradition of European sculpture of the Renaissance and the Late Middle Ages. Works of this type are a characteristic example of the decorative goldsmithing produced in the workshops of Hanau, renowned for their high level of artistic craftsmanship and their specialization in historical styles.
