Pair Of Chiseled And Gilded Bronze Andirons
A pair of Louis XVI-period andirons, in gilded bronze, decorated with a lidded vase adorned with garlands of foliage, gadroons, and topped with a flame. The base rests on four rectangular feet, each featuring a rosette. A mask surrounded by foliage draws the eye to the front of the andestick. The two sides feature a framed floral motif. On the upper register, we find leafy rosettes in the corners, on either side of a fluted frieze and a garland of oak leaves adorned with knots.
