Louis XVI-era Swivel Office Chair.
Attributed to Jean-Nicolas Cheneaux (1734–1820), master in 1772, chair maker in Lyon.
This chair is unique in that it rotates on a central axis supported by four casters set into mortises above the legs.
The upholstery is entirely new, crafted by a “Meilleur Ouvrier de France” in upholstery. The seat is accented with piping, and the leather trim is decorated with a Louis XVI motif applied using a hot-roll tool.
The chair is in perfect condition, restored by me in my workshop; no reinforcements were added to the joints, and it remains in its original condition.
The leather is full-grain cowhide.
The 18th-century webbing beneath the seat has been preserved.
