MASUI Paul Auguste

Born on February 12, 1888, in Differdange. Died in 1981 in Uccle (Brabant). 20th century. Active in Belgium. Luxembourgish.

Painter of genre scenes, figures, landscapes, seascapes; watercolorist, pastel artist, engraver, illustrator. Expressionist.

He worked in Uccle, near Brussels. He was a member of the Luxembourg Academy and the Uccle Fine Arts Commission.

He participated in numerous group exhibitions and art shows beginning in 1912, in Brussels, Liège, Ghent, Antwerp, and Uccle.

He exhibited his works in solo shows on a very regular basis starting in 1920 in Brussels; in 1924, 1926, 1929, and 1934 in Antwerp; in 1924 in Paris; 1924 and 1946 in Liège; 1926 in Amsterdam; 1929,

1978 in Uccle; 1970 and 1980 in Mons; 1971 in Ghent; 1974 in Cagnes-sur-Mer; 1981 Verviers; 1984 Charleroi. He received numerous awards and honors, including a gold medal from the City of Brussels in 1975 and 1978.

Under the name P.-A. Masui-Castricque, he illustrated *L'Exemple de Ninon de Lenclos amoureuse de Jean de Tinan* in 1921. He primarily painted scenes from Brittany, the Ardennes, Provence, and Spain.
