Art Nouveau Painter's Palette Clock, Porcelain And Gilded Bronze, Circa 1900
Art Nouveau painter's palette clock, porcelain and gilded bronze, circa 1900
Rare decorative clock in the shape of a painter's palette resting on an easel, a motif typical of an artist's studio.
The porcelain palette is adorned with a hand-painted, polychrome rural landscape: a path with a walker, a thatched cottage, a church in the background, wooden fences, tree canopy, and a water source. It features a thumb hole. The easel and the paintbrush, resting at an angle on the palette, are made of gilded bronze. The white enamel dial, set within a gilded bronze bezel, displays the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals.
