Louis XIV period *cartel* clock and matching plinth, with rosewood veneer in diamond shapes patterns in the style of Cressent famous cabinetmaker of the King, chased gilt-bronze mounts.
Gilt-bronze ornamentation featuring a cherub holding an armful of flowers on the central door, a figure of Victory at the crest, and a figure of Diana in the upper section of the door.
Finely sculpted bronze ormulu mounts adorning the entire clock and bracket.The piece rests on four scroll feet decorated with acanthus leaves.
Bronze dial featuring twelve cartouches for hours with blue Roman numerals; lower cartouche is signed by the clockmaker Minuel, Paris.
The bronze dial is decorated in the Berain style by symetrically adorned volutes and fantastique chimeares and squirrels on top sides.
Clockmaker Minuel (or Mynuel) Louis , based on Rue de Harlay, Paris, becoming a clockmaster of the guild in 1720 attached to the King Court. He collaborated with the greatest bronziers and cabinetmakers of his era.
The matching bracket features rich rosewood marquetry and is bordered by water-leaf motifs.
