French School (c. 1970) - Lysistrata
- Oil on panel. Hand-signed.
- Look at them, Lysistrata, rising up, armed with flesh and bones; a furious, monolithic crowd, a pagan, post-Cubist thiasos that rejects softness and silk to forge itself in the relentless geometry of resistance. Here, there are no submissive matrons nor languid courtesans; these are women of all classes and none, a single, warlike caste whose minds are accustomed to fractured planes and sharp lines, having learned to turn their naked bodies into a shield and a declaration of total war against the phallocentric order. Look at the one on the left, with her icy gaze and clenched fist—a proletarian Athena ready to shatter the consensus; or the one in the center, who carries her child not as an offering of peace, but as the banner of a future insurrection, the fruit of a lineage that will know no master. There are those who display taut muscles and broad shoulders, an impregnable rearguard against which every male assault will shatter like water against a cliff. This is no tragic chorus; it is a final assault, a sacred conjuration of powerful forms and earthy colors which, in their combative nakedness, have decided that peace can only be won with the same devastating fury that the Ancients reserved for war.
