Gordon Griffiths – Bird Sculpture Made Of Metal Brambles.
Artist: Gordon Griffiths
Metal animal sculpture by Gordon Griffiths (born in 1944), a British sculptor who specializes in particular in depicting wildlife and birds. A beautiful composition depicting a bird with its wings spread wide, moving through an intertwining tangle of brambles laden with leaves and blackberries. The work stands out for the finesse and precision of the metalwork: the plumage is cut out and assembled, and the veined foliage, branches, thorns, and fruit are crafted with great attention to naturalistic detail. The particularly dynamic composition gives the bird a genuine sense of movement. Patinated metal sculpture mounted on a circular turned wooden base. Signed “G. Griffiths” and dated “93” on the base, indicating 1993.
