18-light Cage Chandelier In Gilded Bronze And Baccarat Crystal With Fleur-de-lis Motifs
A stunning 18-light Louis XV-style cage chandelier crafted from finely chiseled and gilded bronze, richly adorned with crystals from the prestigious Baccarat house.
The gilded bronze structure features a flared central frame formed by curved and sinuous branches characteristic of the Rocaille aesthetic typical of the Louis XV style. This airy form subtly encloses a central column of cut crystal at its center. The chandelier distributes its 18 lights across several levels via ornate bronze finials modeled after floral corollas.
The Baccarat crystal trim is particularly lavish, featuring numerous beveled and scalloped leaf-shaped plaques as well as stylized floral rosettes at each attachment point. The middle tier is adorned with crystal daggers that capture the light, and the top features graceful cascades of crystals suspended from an upper gilded bronze canopy. The lower section concludes in a classic and refined manner with a large solid cut crystal ball suspended at the center of the base.
Featuring rare and remarkable elements, our chandelier stands out for its six large crystals—three in the shape of fleurs-de-lis and three in the shape of faceted palm leaves—motifs that are both rare and highly decorative.
Dated to the first half of the 19th century, electrified to European standards.
Height: 113 cm.
