Large Mahogany Bookcase From The Restoration Period
Elegant two-section display bookcase, 19th-century.
The upper section opens with two glass-paneled doors
, and the lower section features two solid doors and two drawers.
The front features a rich burl veneer with highly decorative grain. The upper section
is fitted with several adjustable and removable shelves.
All the shelves are original, with mahogany fronts; half-shelves are also
inserted to accommodate narrower items.
The lower section features a compartmented unit, specifically a locker-style layout,
providing additional storage space.
The interior, which is lighter in color, contrasts pleasantly with the richness of the exterior veneer; it is made of solid oak.
The upper cornice, the projecting rounded stiles, and the turned legs lend the piece a particularly elegant decorative presence. Beautiful quality of cabinetmaking and veneer, with remarkable work in burl and curly grain.
A unique, high-quality piece, ideal for a home with character.
