Provençal Flour Bin Made Of Carved Walnut With A Floral Urn Design—early 19th Century

An elegant Provençal flour chest, known as a “fariniero,” made of carved walnut and crafted in the early 19th century in the Louis XVI style.

Its sliding front features rich relief decoration: an urn from which two flowers rise, surrounded by foliage, garlands, and scrolls. The lower section is adorned with small flowers and geometric motifs. An openwork cutout, topped by a hanging ring, crowns the piece. The side panels are topped with small turned elements, and the box rests on four small feet.

The front panel lifts to reveal the compartment designed to hold flour. The object’s shallow depth—8 cm—and the quality of its carving give it a particularly elegant silhouette.

In very good condition, with a warm patina.
